New spaces to keep us at the heart of our communities – blog by David Woolley, Your Voice Counts Chief Executive
This week we’ve moved our head office to John Haswell House on Gladstone Terrace in Gateshead which is an established base for voluntary organisations in the area.
We’re proud of our position in the Gateshead VCSE sector and have strong links with many other charities already, so we’re very pleased to make this move. John Haswell House has been a fantastic resource that the voluntary sector in Gateshead have made use of for many years. I can remember attending meetings in the building when I first started working for Your Voice around 20 years ago! We're delighted to continue the tradition of charities who've made their home in the building.
We’re also pleased to be opening a new office at Regent Centre in Newcastle as well as continuing to use our shared space in the Age Concern Tyneside South (ACTS) building in South Shields. We’re a statutory provider of advocacy services for Newcastle so it’s important our team has an accessible base to meet each other and the people they support and we’re looking forward to settling into our new location here. In South Shields, sharing a space with ACTS, who are one of our key partners in the area, provides us with a central and accessible location while also enabling joint working which is so important for charities.
We provide services in Newcastle, Gateshead and South Tyneside so it is vital we have spaces that enable us to work in the heart of the places our services are available. Our new office spaces, in addition to the community buildings we use to reach people where they are, provide us with the foundations we need to grow and develop and ensure we’re at the heart of the communities we serve.
