Learning how to communicate with people with hearing impairments

During #DeafAwarenessWeek we held a session in partnership with Vision & Hearing Support to share tips and information around how to communicate with people who are Deaf or hearing impaired.

The session was organised as part of our Community Voice project that provides opportunities for people who have learning disabilities, autistic people and people who are at risk of exclusion due to disability, sight loss or who are Deaf or hard of hearing to get together and learn new skills.

At the session, we heard from Vision & Hearing Support who shared information about technology that can support people with hearing impairments and taught us the importance of facial expressions as well as useful signs that we can use to communicate. We also practiced the British Sign Language alphabet.
