Could you support our cinema group as a travel buddy?
Our new cinema group is looking for volunteers to help them develop their confidence as they get used to going to the cinema together once a month.
The group is part of our Know Your Neighbourhood project that helps people with learning disabilities take part in social activities. The cinema group meets on the first Tuesday of the month from approx 12noon to 4pm and we're looking for volunteers to help by:
supporting people to travel on public transport from South Tyneside to Gateshead Vue cinema
helping people to learn the travel route, build confidence in booking and paying for cinema tickets and in finding their seats
enjoying a film with the group and then helping with return journey.
This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the company of others while helping people to develop their skills and confidence so that they can eventually travel, take part and run the group independently. All expenses will be paid, including travel and the cost of the cinema, and training and support will be given by our Volunteer Coordinator as needed.
Interested?
We'd love to hear from you so please get in touch if you're interested. If you're not available on Tuesdays, other days and times of activities are available.
