Celebrating our volunteers
We had a fantastic time during #VolunteersWeek catching up with our volunteers and promoting the volunteering opportunities we offer at Your Voice Counts.
As part of the celebrations, some of our volunteers came along to one of our regular drop-in groups for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. This was a lovely chance to meet some of the people we support and for us to say a big thank you to our volunteers who give their time to help us.
Some of our volunteers also took part in First Awareness Training from the British Red Cross during the week. This covered using a defibrillator and treating a variety of injuries and was incredibly useful for us all.
We were also delighted to attend Inspire South Tyneside's special celebration event where some of our volunteers were treated to a lovely afternoon tea and we got the chance to share our thanks and achievements. We rounded off the week by attending a volunteer fair at the Job Centre Plus in Jarrow where we got to meet some of our partners and talk to people about the benefits of volunteering.
We offer lots of different type of volunteer opportunities, ranging from travel buddy to cooking class supporter to admin roles. We are also pleased to support people with learning disabilities and autistic people to be volunteers and to run their own peer support groups.
