Your Voice Counts Advocacy Services

How can a Your Voice Counts advocate help you?

An advocate is someone who can help you speak up about what is important to you.

An advocate can:

  • listen to your views and concerns

  • help you explore your options and rights

  • provide information to help you make informed decisions

  • help you contact relevant people, or contact them on your behalf

  • accompany you and support you in meetings or appointments

An advocate will not:

  • give you their personal opinion

  • make decisions for you

  • make judgements about you

If you think you, or someone you know, would benefit from an advocate’s support, you can call our free helpline on 0800 048 7856, or email us at yvc.uk@nhs.net, to find out more. We’ll let you know if someone from our organisation can help you, or if they can’t, we’ll aim to connect you to another organisation who can.
